On Wednesday 8 August, Lord Duncan – Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Scotland – visited Perth.
The day started off with a visit to Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA), which is funded by charitable donations. Lord Duncan had the opportunity to meet the crew, see the aircraft and learn how the SCAA’s work fits in to the vital emergency response network Scotland.
The Minister then visited Tillyrie Farm. He toured the farm, had the opportunity to see lambs being drawn and the farm’s sustainable management of flock. He also discussed the ‘farm to fork’ process and quality assurance.
In the afternoon, Lord Duncan visited Hunters of Kinross to hear about the ‘Heart of the Community’ initiative which aims to place a defibrillator at every butcher’s shop across Scotland.
He went on to continue discussions at the local coffee shop, Unorthodox Roasters, a Scotland based coffee roastery which roasts coffee to a lighter style using unconventional methods.
The day ended with a visit to Loch Leven and the Castle.
